Welcome to our website!

WELCOME!
This website is primarily dedicated to the Bible translation work done in Muapula, Niassa, Mozambique, but it also provides a glimpse into some of the other wonderful ministries and activities there.

UPDATE ON PROGRESS AND PROSPECTS:
21 OCTOBER 2020

Finally, we can give you an update on the Project budget and other current issues.

* After numerous discussions, calculations and double checking and a few formal meetings, we can now give you the following update in terms of how much we still need for the printing: As recently as about six weeks ago, we still needed well over $40 000 for the printing of the Bible. Today as I am writing this to you, we now only need
$9 905!!! God has worked in special ways in terms of raising money for this fund – especially these past few months. For that we are truly and eternally grateful.

* A VERY IMPORTANT “BUT”: From long before the first written communication about the amount we would need for printing and other related costs, I have been very open and frank about the fact that this was a once-off amount OVER AND ABOVE the normal annual budget expenses (I think in the USA it is called annual OPERATIONAL EXPENSES). I said it several times and will say it now again: It would be almost futile if we could raise the enormous amount we need for printing, but are not able to cover our operational expenses.

* On advice from local and USA brothers, we decided to also communicate to you the amount we still need for the operational budget (we call it the fixed budget) – the amount within the financial year we find ourselves in. For us to be able to meet the budgetary demands of the normal fixed (operational) budget, we calculate an estimated need of $9 640 for the five months until the end of February 2021 (this is besides the projected local income for the period).

* In South Africa, the financial year is from 1 March to the end of February of each year. These last 8 months or so we saw a dramatic drop in our local (South African) support (basically a 35% drop), since the country’s economy is in a deep recession and the wheels are really coming off.

‚ÄčAll this to say that in total for us to move forward and be able to effectively see this Printing of the Makhua Bible through, we still need $19 545 ($ 9 905 + $ 9 640).

* One thing you can know for certain: every dime and every dollar can be accounted for with more than one form of proof. The fiscal policy, bookkeeping and fiscal discipline of CLM is beyond any reproach. We are, by law, audited annually by an independent, internationally registered auditing company and every year without exception we have received a clean audit.

* For those who want to make a contribution: Please indicate how your gift should be applied: "For Operational Expenses" or "For Printing". Kindly note that any gift not specifically designated as such, as well as any gift over and above any of our two targets, will be used at the prayerful discretion of the Ministry.

* On a totally different note: In a few days’ time I will travel to Cape Town for a second round of meetings with the guys that are going to do the Typesetting, technical final touches and printing. It is really exciting to see some of the final products of other African Languages they have on their shelves – very professional and great quality!

* A revised timeline: Having received the government calendar for 2021, we now aim, as first option, to be able to inaugurate the Makhua Bible in Muapula on the 26th of SEPTEMBER 2021. Start planning, start saving, start praying….!!

Please do not forget to pray for us during these final phases, as we are experiencing intense and ferocious spiritual attacks on various fronts.

Four copies of the Old and New Testament
ready for a final read

Makhua Shirima Old and New Testament
copy: all 1165 pages of it!

*We have recently moved down to "level 1" of lockdown in South Africa, which give much more freedom of movement. I am still not allowed to travel to Mozambique as international travel is still very complicated and requires an isolation period etc.

* For now, we have to negotiate an unparalleled global situation as best we could. This includes absorbing financial challenges the project faces given the global economic slump and situation.

* After the final read we will have to have a final discussion preferably with me present in Muapula, and then we will be looking at typesetting, technical preparing of the document etc. Once we have the final text, we will be able to approach the printers in China. At a later stage I will share more on the processes that follow after that.

* From China these Bibles will have to be shipped to either South Africa or Mozambique and from there imported to Mozambique and transported to Muapula.

* We have some wonderful and strategic plans in place for the distribution of the first batch of Bibles through the whole province of Niassa, as well as for the inauguration in Muapula.

PLEASE PRAY!
