Makhua Ministry Feedback
May 2023
Greetings in our Lord Jesus! Please read below – it does make a difference….
You also MUST check out the video attached. I love it when the children sing with Alfonso during Church service. Here they are singing: “The Lord is my Shepherd; I am walking with Him; in the dark path I am walking with Him; all the days I am walking with him.” Check out the green Hoodie….
We really sense that God is laying the platform for something special in Niassa among the Makhuas. There is still an enormous amount of input to be made to gain momentum, but we have already seen wonderful things happening during the course of training eleven church leaders from all over Niassa.
It would take too long to explain, but here are a few highlights for us looking back at the Makhua Bible Training course:
- The fact that these students from five Denominations sat together and studied and worshipped together is unheard of in Niassa, perhaps even in Mozambique!
- The way they enjoyed each other’s company was special.
- The way the Lord opened their eyes to see the Bible in a new light and the realization they had of “digging deeper” in His Word was precious.
- Perhaps to me the highlight was the way God opened their eyes to missions and the need around them in Niassa among their own Makhua people group. At least five of them have already started ministries in new areas.
- They themselves decided at the end of the course to meet in Metarica (more or less in the middle of where each one lives). This is a wonderful step in the direction of a Niassa Network, something I am dreaming about!
So yes, there are many things to be grateful for.
Please pray for the upcoming tour to Muapula in June. There are thirteen people (five from Pennsylvania!) who will Lord willingly partake in this unique visit to Muapula to celebrate two things: Thirty years of God’s grace in ministry among the Makhua Shirima and belatedly holding a feast for 8 tons of Makhua Shirima Bibles that arrived in Muapula around a year ago.
Please also don’t forget to pray for the Ministry as well as its support – we have many more expenses than when I did just Bible Translation – mainly because we are now working on several new areas in this ministry, but also because everything became just so much more expensive.
At the same time, we thank God from the bottom of our hearts for all the years of His faithful provision.
May the Lord bless you and keep you!
Gerard and Vanessa
